Is it time to replace your old water heater? Invest in an energy efficient A.O. Smith brand electric water heater available from Richland Electric Cooperative. A.O. Smith electric water heaters surround the entire water heater with foam insulation to minimize heat loss and come with heat traps to be installed by your plumber so the hot water doesn't migrate back up the cold or hot water lines.

The water heater program requires that a load management radio receiver be connected to the electric water heater. The radio receiver is used to shut off power to the water heater during "peak hours" when the demand for electricity is high. There is no charge to have the receiver installed. Existing receiver installations require inspection of the receiver and/or upgrade to the new digital receivers now in use.

Once the load management receiver is connected to the water heater, a credit of $2 per month is applied to your electric bill, subject to the minimum kilowatt hour (kWh) usage policy in effect.
