It's here and we hope you're ready to experience truly fast satellite Internet, available from Richland Electric Cooperative (REC) and ExedeSM by ViaSat. We know this new high-speed service, now called Exede by ViaSat, arrived later than we initially planned on. However, as the saying goes, "Something worth having is something worth waiting for."

Upload / Download Speeds

We believe you'll agree this was worth waiting for. The new download speeds for everyone who signs up for Exede by ViaSat service is up to *12Mbps! That's not a misprint! That's not a trial offer! Up to12Mbps! That's the download speed on all packages on the new Exede by ViaSat system. That's fast!

And the upload speed's not too bad either. How does up to 3 *Mbps sound? That's right. Up to 3 Mbps uploads on all packages. Again, not a misprint and not a trial offer!

If you would like to take advantage of the faster service, please contact our office and we will send you all the details. Everyone who wants to enjoy the faster speeds of Exede by ViaSat must pay an equipment /activation fee of $149.99 plus tax and sign a two year contract for the new service which includes an early termination fee if you disconnect service prior to the end of the contract.

New Data Allowance Policy

The new Data Allowance Policy is also different than the previous Fair Access Policy (FAP) and you need to be aware of the amount of data you can download and upload each month before you sign up for service. It will no longer be a 30-day rolling FAP, but your usage will reset to zero after a 30-day fixed cycle. Speeds will still be slowed down if you go over your data allotment, but hopefully the length of time it takes to return to normal speeds should be lessened.

New Service Plan

We also strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of the new Maintenance, Repair, and Service plan REC will offer. Since you will own the Exede by ViaSat equipment, it will be your responsibility to pay for out-of-warranty replacement parts and labor to get the system working again should parts fail or you need to realign the dish due to a new roof put on your house, etc. The Maintenance, Repair, and Service plan is highly recommended to help save you from those expenses.
